I know that sounds like a weird combination, but that really sums up this past weekend.
Saturday was nice, I got up earlier than the rest of the house, (surprise surprise) and did some cleaning. Then I started preparing for Madrea's shower. I went over to Sue's house and we got everything ready. It started at 3, and had to end promptly at 6, Sue had to work. Madrea got a lot of much needed items DIAPERS!! We all went home and Jeremy and I's intention was to watch some of the Olympics. However we decided to record it for a while so we could commercial skip, so we found a "How it's made" to watch to pass the time. Well, we got about 3 minutes into that and feel asleep. Timmy and his mom came over and that is what woke me up, however Mr Byrd, continued to sleep...UNTIL THE NEXT MORNING. I guess his body really needed it. I did get to catch up on one of my favorite shows, Sunset Tan, and the end of the season for Deadliest Catch.
Sunday was the emotional, sad part. In church, the subject of death, and being at peace when you are dying came up. Of course, that reminded me so much of Melvin. So I could feel myself tearing up, so I slipped out to the bathroom to "get my self together" and it was over. You know how it is, once the tears get started...So Jeremy went to big church with me and I had a few more tears come out. With Melvin's birthday coming up, it just got me. When church was over, Jeremy went and talked to Pastor Paul, I am not really sure what he said, but I was so proud of him for taking "that step", whatever "that step" is. Anyone who knows Jeremy, knows church is not his thing, he goes for me and the kids. After church we went to the Navy Exchange to get the kids some school clothes.
At 5:00 we had our OPLOVE photo session, Rob (i think that was his name) was very nice. We were his first OPLOVE session, so you could tell he was a little nervous. But I am sure he did a great job. It was very hot, so on the way home we stopped and got ICEE's and Hersey pies from Burger King.
The best part of the whole weekend was last night. I got home and my homework( that is not the best part). Jeremy got a great deal on an extra monitor for the house, so we have double monitors in the computer room, so while I did homework, Jeremy watched the Olympics. The kids had some chores to do. After I was done with homework, and the kids were done with chores, we all piled into the computer room and watched crazy videos on youtube. It was a lot of fun. After that I cleaned the computer room, Kevin shredded things in the shredder (he loves to do that) and Niki and Jeremy printed out pictures for Niki to hang in her locker. It was such a simple night, but one of the best. Makes it that much harder to know that Jeremy is leaving in a few weeks for over seven months. I'm with Gina "Deployments SUX"
One last thing....we got word that Jeremy's aunt Bonnie is not likely to make it through the week. Last night when Jeremy talked to Sally, Bonnie was taking 6 breaths a minute. She is slowly passing like Melvin did. Jeremy and Kody will be there on Friday, so Sally said they were going to hold the services until then if she passes sooner. Keep her in your prayers, for a peaceful passing. There is nothing that can be done for her at this point, she has to pass, and we understand that. The only thing I wish for is peace for her.
On to another crazy work week.
