Football time

As you all know...we are big ol' football fans here at the Byrd house. So of course we had to have a big ol' party for the first day of NCAA football!! We planned this party months ago, before we knew Kevin would be playing football. So when we got the time of his first game, we were in a bit of a mess. His first game started at 2:30, and people were set to start showing up at 3:30. The game was about an hour away from our home, so we were not sure what to do. So our friends the Pullyman's offered to come over and set up for us and great guest until we got home. So it all worked out and we watched football until almost midnight. Starting with the Georgia game, a little bit of Auburn, a whole buncha Bama, and topped it off with LSU. It was a great day shared with awesome friends!!! FYI...Bama ROCKED!!!

Miami fans.....

Kevin's First REAL game

Our first real game did not go much better than the first practice game. We lost 41-0. Kevin still gave a good effort and tries really hard. He is not very focused, so he did not do well when he was put on offense and caused a penality for moving (for anyone who knows Kevin, that is typical). However, he is still looking forward to practice and games.

Niki gets Baptized

Niki was also baptized by Mr Moises. Even though he worked in the chilren's side of the church, a few months ago, he was called to come and work with the youth. During this time, he has really connected with the youth group and we were honored to have him also baptize Niki. He gave a great speach about how we have a family call "kaw kaw", and when one of the Byrd's yell this out, all of us answer. He said that Niki had a calling on her heart from the Lord and she answered it. We are very proud parents and we are blessed to have such wonderful children.

Kevin is baptized by Moises

Almost two years ago, we began going to church as a family at what was then Celebration Baptist Church, but now FaithBridge. Niki and Kevin both took to the church right away and were very comfortable there. Mr Moises was Kevin's first Sunday School teacher and we came to know him, his wife Nita, and sweet daughter Eden over our time there. Kevin gave his life to Christ a while ago, but we were never able to set a date for him to be baptized due to Jeremy's underway schedule. However on Sunday August 30, 2009 Kevin and Niki both were baptized.

Kevin Plays Football

Kevin has now signed up to play football. He is #25 on the Pablo Creek Saints Team. He is enjoying it so far, even though he has never played before and does not get much playing time. The below pictures are from their first practice game. They lost 31-0. He has kept his chin up and a positive attitude so far.

Kevin getting ready in the back field. He plays on defense. He is still a little timid to make direct hits or tackles, but he is doing good by running towards the action, he is just not "in" the action yet..

As you can see, he was a little hot....

Ground Zero

We went to the site of Ground Zero, but I was a little disapointed. You can't really see anything now, they have fence up all around with "blanket" type things all around. You can peek through, but you have to stand on road blockers and climb the fence. I would love to go back when they finish whatever it is they are doing.

This is a picture of the fire fighters that were first on scene. This fire departmen is directly across the street from where the towers stood.

Central Park

We had dinner at Tavern on the Green in Central Park. It was a nice resturant, not sure it would be one of my favorite places to eat if I lived in NYC, but it was a nice one-nighter.

The giant gorilla made of plant stuff

When I made the reservations, I ordered this cake for Jeremy

Our waiter, nice guy...don't remember his name..

On our walk in Central Park we found a cute little raccoon

Empire State Building...Limo Ride back to the hotel

It was so windy up there. I am glad we went at night, there was no line and the view of the city was awesome. The pictures did not turn out as good as I had hoped but it was kool. I do not recommend paying the extra money and going to the "next observation deck" it is closed in and nothing big. Jeremy surprised me with a limo ride back to the hotel, which was really kool. You can get just about anything at any time in NYC....lol

How high we were

Heather and Timmy "pretending" to be passed out...lol

New York...Yankees Game

We had a great time in NYC. We went to a Yankee's game the first night we were there. Heather and I got awesome seats that had a "waiter" that came and took our order, we handed him our credit card for payment, and the food was delivered in about 10 minutes. You can 't get that kind of service standing in line :)

Good News/Bad News....

Which do you want first...well I suppose the bad...It is really not so bad. As we all know Jeremy made Senior Chief recently which was so awesome and I am very proud of him. With that comes the Senior Enlisted Academy. Jeremy will be leaving in Sep to go to Rhode Island for 6 weeks to attend the Academy. I am sad that he has to leave us again, but that should be it for a while. Even though at ATG, he will have days here and there that he will be gone, it will be nothing like it is now.

Good News is that sea time on the Rossie is coming to an end.... I am glad he will be home for Niki's birthday and back home for Halloween.

Heather and I are going to start attending a Fitness Bootcamp next week, we are really excitied about it. I have been walking the bridges now for 6 weeks, but I have not seen anything different, however Jeremy says he has.

I will post pictures of July 4th up soon, I am not sure where the USB cable is right now :)

I am ready!!!

Well, it is almost here!! Jeremy's last little bit of underway time should be up tomorrow. He is to report to ATG by Oct 1st, but I think he is going before then. He has to go to the Senior Enlisted Academy for 8 weeks sometime soon, so that kinda stinks. There are two places that school takes place, Montgomery Alabama or Rhode Island...keep your fingers crossed for Montgomery.

It will be so nice to have him home and us be a real family of four again! It seems like we have been a family of three for the longest, it has for sure been a long three years.

Yayyy for Da Byrd's!!!!

Will post pictures from Fourth of July as soon as Jeremy finds the attachment for the computer to upload them!!
